5 Things That Bring You Into Your Destiny

Are you ready to enter into your destiny? If so, the Lord has something to say to you about your calling in Him today!

The Spirit of Jesus is ALWAYS prophecy! He is prophesying; God is always saying something. These days, He is saying a lot.

As never before, we have to keep Jesus and the truth of the Word of God at the forefront of our minds.

I believe we are getting back what the devil captured and stole from us. I believe we are entering into a new place in our destiny, and I believe the Holy Spirit has the keys. We are a people of destiny and purpose.

Destiny is defined as “An event or course of events that will inevitably happen in the future.” It can also mean “living according to God’s plan for your life.”

You have a destiny in God–and it’s BIG.

You’ve to pursue it, because time is getting short. So many signs of the last days–signs that Jesus predicted–are happening now. Just look at:

  • the extreme weather we are experiencing;

  • the continual terrorist attacks; and

  • the bombardment of nation against nation and people against people.

That’s saying nothing about the state of the Church in that equation!

God needs YOU to occupy your place in the Kingdom.

That’s why I write about “Permission” (part of the tagline of my blog)–because I am here to shout that God has already given you PERMISSION to do what He has called you to do, and to BE who He has ordained you to be. I am here to encourage you to step up and step out into what God has ALREADY empowered and equipped you to do for Him!

As you’re pursuing your destiny in God, I believe that there are five things that can cause you to come into a place of prophetic order–the place in which your destiny is fulfilled.

Here they are:

1. You MUST have the ability to HEAR GOD.

Abraham heard God say:

“Get thee out of thine country, and from thy Kindred, from thy Father’s house unto a land that I will show you.”

God never gives an instruction without a promise! After God told Abraham to get out of his country and away from his family, He said:

“And I will make of you a great nation and I will bless you and I will make your name great and you shall be a blessing. And I will bless them that bless you and I will curse them that curse you.”

God will bless you and you shall be a blessing.

Let me encourage you:

Whatever you’re facing, you can’t quit because quitting is not an option. YOU HAVE DESTINY AND PURPOSE ON YOUR LIFE! God has destined you for GREATNESS.

But …

You must have the ability to hear God.

Thirty-eight years ago, I heard the Lord say to me, “Leave your family, your job, and everything familiar, and go to Cleveland, Tennessee.”

I didn’t know what was ahead. All I knew was that I had a word from the Lord to come to Cleveland (where I still am today) and study music and ministry at the Christian college here. I knew I had heard from God.

2. You have to believe what you heard!

When Abraham heard, HE BELIEVED what he heard. A lot of people hear, but many of them don’t believe. We must remember that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. So when you hear it, faith has to grab hold of what God says.

When God speaks, the enemy will try to talk you out of what God says. BUT, you must press in to everything God has told you–and BELIEVE! Something in you has to leap, and you have to believe!

3. There comes a season of denunciation.

There comes a time and a moment when you have to move out of the safe zone into the faith zone. The will of God will always stretch you further than where you are comfortable. God will always stretch you beyond what you are capable of to allow the Holy Spirit to show off the God in you!

But, there has to be a season of denouncing EVERYTHING that could ever stand in between your gifts/callings and your purpose. Jesus put it like this:

“Unless you forsake mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, houses and land for my sake, you’re not even worthy of the kingdom of God” (Luke 14:26).

If you feel comfortable with this thing that God has called you to do; if you feel like its a piece of cake, like you’ve got this … then it’s probably not God. But if He’s stretching you beyond what you can think and can do, then it just may be God. You have to be willing to disturb your “this” so you can enter your “that.”

Every step up in the Kingdom is down to your flesh.

I remember being the one to clean up after others after trips. I remember being the one that would go get the food and serve others. But that’s nothing new in the Kingdom; look at Jesus! He denounced the glory of Heaven and came to earth. He lowered Himself to serve even more than we can imagine.

4. Then you have to gain the courage to do what God tells you to do.

After you’ve heard …

… and you have believed what you heard …

… and after you denounce EVERYTHING that would even act like it wants to come between you and your destiny and purpose …

… then the next step is:

You must have the courage to do what God told you to do!

It's one thing to talk about it, but it’s another thing to do it! Anybody can talk the talk, but what matters is whether or not you are walking the walk.

I’ve heard that, during World War II, when the ships would go out to fight, that their commanding officers would give them what was called “closed orders.”

This meant that they could not open the orders until they got to a certain latitude/depth in their journey. Once they got to that certain place, they were given release to open the orders.

Wouldn’t it be great to know EVERYTHING that God is doing in our lives at every moment? But that doesn’t happen. We must remember that, sometimes:

God gives closed orders!

Sometimes all you will hear is, “Get up and get out.” Then we have to have the courage to actually GET UP, GET OUT, and DO all that He asks!

If you wait for God to give every answer to every question before you move into your destiny or purpose:

  • You’ll never do anything;

  • You’ll never grow any higher; and

  • You’ll never reach any further.

Which means that, right now, you’re ALL that you’ll ever be! You’ll never grow or move past where you are right now–IF you wait for God to tell you everything before you obey.

If.

That’s why you have to come to the point when you decide. You have to have the courage to actually DO what God has told you to do. You have to do it!

God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. You can do it! Don’t wait on your feelings; walk in faith. Faith is not a feeling; it is a place of trust in God!

5. On this journey, you must focus on the promise–not the problems.

You have to develop the ability to focus on the promise, not on the mess that WILL come your way. When you focus on the promise, you say:

  • “I’m going THERE.”

  • “I’m not going to that other place.”

  • “Nothing is going to stop me.”

  • “I am here for such a time as this!”

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832) said, “Dream no small dreams for they have no power to move the hearts of men.” Chase your dreams–your God-thoughts and God-vision!

Always remember that opportunity is a visitor.

Don’t assume your opportunity will be back again tomorrow; move NOW while the door is open! Take the necessary steps to pursue the call of God on your life. When you do, you will get to watch God open doors that no man can close and close doors that no man can open (Isaiah 22:22).
