“These Are the Days of Elijah” is a song that has been my staple song for over twenty years. Although I did not write the song (Robin Mark from Ireland is the author), it seems everyone wants to credit this song to me.
It really began when someone pitched “Days of Elijah” to us.
In other words, someone suggested to us that I consider recording this song. When we listened to it, it really didn’t hit us hard with, “This is a song that we need to record.” Rather, we thought, “This is a song that is powerful, and I would enjoy just listening to it in my listening rotation.”
However, the more we listened, thought, and prayed about it, the stronger we felt about it. Never in a million years did we ever believe this song would be “the identifier” of our ministry–but it definitely has become that.
I believe the reason why so many people connect and identify with this song, “Days of Elijah,” is because it really is an anthem of the Church.
It is the belief and hope for all of us as children of God. We are longing for that day when Jesus will absolutely step out on that cloud and come and get His people. Because of that great promise, every time we hear that song, our hearts leap within us.
Even though we love to hear “Days of Elijah,” there are many reasons that we believe that the message of this song is true. So, the question is, what does it mean to say or sing that “these are the Days of Elijah”?
Here are six reasons why I believe that we are truly IN the days of Elijah:
1. The Word of the Lord is being declared.
According to many statisticians, we are living in the one of the greatest times ever because of our ability to reach people around the world.
Matthew 24:14 declares, “This gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”
We have to preach the Gospel around the whole world in order for the end to come. There are so many ways to reach the nations now, including:
• Satellites; • Television; • Radio; • Internet and social media; • The written Word (through many translations of the Bible); and • Missionaries.
God is using all these resources to reach people. However, the sad news is that there are still at least 2 billion people who still haven’t heard the name of Jesus or the good news He came to bring.
When I have the privilege to sing at venues that are broadcasting around the world via satellite or online, it gives me great joy to know that no government or regime can keep out the satellite or internet transmissions. How awesome to hear of so many being saved, delivered, and set free by watching a TV or looking at their smartphones!
One missionary couple in the bush in Zimbabwe told me one time that they could watch me sing that song, “Days of Elijah,” on satellite television. Praise God! The Word is being declared!
2. Righteousness truly is being restored.
These are the days of God’s servant, Moses, when righteousness is being restored. Yes, it seems as if I may be a little disillusioned by even saying this, but it is true. I really believe we are closer to seeing Roe v. Wade overturned. That law has stood for 46 years, but I believe it can be overturned in our generation.
As I am looking at the U.S. Abortion Clock, I am abhorred as I am watching the clock tick away, second by second, counting babies leaving this earth through abortion. As of right now, at this very second of writing, there have been, 1,548,740,100 abortions since 1980 in this world.
I BELIEVE THIS WILL BE OVERTURNED in the name of the Lord as righteous people are standing up for babies.
Also, righteous people are running for office. I also believe that we will see the Bible return to our schools, and that we will see prayer re-instituted in our schools and public places.
PRAISE GOD! Anybody believe it with me?
3. We are living in times of great trial.
Charles Dickens said in his book A Tale of Two Cities, “It was the best of times; it was the worst of times.” I really believe this as we look at the time clock of humanity right now.
We have some of the greatest technology ever in the history of mankind, and we are at a place in our nation and in the world where the deprivation of sin is rampant. Never before have we seen the days as we are seeing them now.
The world right now is a picture-book of 2 Timothy 3:1-5, which says, “There will be terrible times in the last days” (NIV). He lists why, saying people will be: “lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God – having a form of godliness but denying its power.”
If this isn’t a last-day, spit-fire revelation, then nothing is.
4. These are the days of Ezekiel!
Right now, we are seeing dry bones becoming as flesh in the Church. An army is rising up; there is a roar in the Spirit realm that is coming from the saints of the Living God. We are seeing a great move of God all over this nation and the world. We are seeing young people coming alive; people are hearing the voice of the Lord concerning the nations of the world, and they are responding by the droves. So, LET’S EVANGELIZE!
5. Davidic worship is being restored.
David is the great Psalmist of Israel. He is the author of 75 of the 150 Psalms in the Bible. David, a former shepherd, is renowned for:
his passion for God;
his incredibly inspiring psalms;
his excellent musical abilities;
his courage; and
his expertise in fighting wars.
David also had an ancestral connection to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
I have believed–and still believe–that God has always had a people who would worship Him in spirit and truth. He has always had a people who are bold and courageous in God, just like David.
In these last days, God is raising up worship warriors, and we as worshipping warriors are going against the Goliaths that we are facing. We are knocking them down with worship and warfare. This enemy will not win!
6. The fields are ripe for harvest.
The Barna Group, an independent marketing research company, has been studying cultural trends related to values, beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors since 1984. This group has discovered that the nation may be moving in the right direction spiritually. They are saying, “More people are becoming attuned to the importance of the life, death, and resurrection message of Jesus.”
Survey after survey is saying what we already know: the Holy Spirit is moving because the time is short, and God is sending revival as the Church continues to pray.
The harvest is definitely white, as Jesus prophesied that it would be.
The Lord of the Harvest is sending forth laborers into His fields. However, the good news is that we are not going into the fields by ourselves.
There is a reason He is called the Lord of the Harvest.
It is still His harvest, and He is still passionate about it. In fact, He says that it is not His will that ANY should perish but that ALL should come to repentance.
The truth of the matter is that we are now the Elijahs.
Jonathan Cahn, in his book The Paradigm, states:
“Elijah was a man uncompromised, undivided, single-minded, and focused. Others had compromised with the evil of their day and had disqualified themselves as being used of God. But Elijah went in the opposite direction. The more evil the culture became, the more strongly he stood. And it was this radical and uncompromised stand that allowed him to change the course of his nation.”
As the baton has been passed to us, it is up to us to continue to declare the Word of the Lord and to keep looking for our Savior. Keep watching, my friend! It could be today. And if it is, you’ll know Him. He’ll be riding on a cloud.
