Would you like God to reveal His secrets to you? Do you want to know what “the secret of the Lord” is?
God is both a Revealer of secrets AND a Keeper of secrets.
He’ll reveal the good ones, and He’ll keep the bad ones. 🙂 But what exactly are those secrets?
Secrets are something that sound mysterious. They are often things that are kept hidden, or kept from our view. The dictionary says a “secret” is something that is ‘unknown to others, or something that is confidential in matters.’
When I was younger, my mom could just use the words, “I’ve got a secret to tell you,” and she would have our complete and undivided attention. Secrets are–and always have been–so appealing and attractive, especially to little ones!
Sometimes we think God has secrets.
We sometimes think that maybe God is keeping something from us. Especially when it comes to praying and asking God about certain things that we are believing Him for, we might think, “Surely there are secrets that He is just not telling us!” But I would like to remind you of what the Word of the Lord says in Psalm 25:14:
“The secret of the Lord is with them that fear Him; and he will show them His covenant.”
I love how the Passion Translation puts it:
“There’s a private place reserved for the lovers of God, where they sit near Him and receive the revelation-secrets of His promises” (“promises” being the secrets of His covenant).
The fear of the Lord is a real key when it comes to revelation secrets.
God is always wanting to reveal himself to His children–the children who fear and reverence Him, and who long to be in His presence.
I love it when we, as a family, are relaxing (such as when we are on vacation), and we find ourselves just sitting around and sharing with each other. Suddenly, the questions begin to erupt. Our girls want to know things like:
What was it like when we were their ages?
What was it that drove us to do what we did, especially when it comes to talking about music and ministry?
What are the secrets anyway?
What do you do when it comes to building relationships with staff?
How do you segue from one thing to another in a worship service?
The questions go on and on. What they are really looking for are some “trade secrets,” especially when it comes to Erica asking her dad about drumming. 🙂 (She loves to play the drums.)
If there is one thing I know about my God, I know that I have found Him to be a faithful Father.
He is always there to lead, guide, instruct, and direct me, with the amazing help of the precious Holy Spirit. He is always there to whisper in our ears the deep secrets of our lives that only He knows.
Daniel 2:21-22 says:
“And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding. He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with Him” (Daniel 2:21-22 NKJV).
The secrets of the Lord belong to our God and to us, His people.
I love it that He says He is a revealer of the deep and secret things. In our lives, many times we will find ourselves in a deep place. We may feel like we are so low that we can’t even see or touch the bottom. But it’s so encouraging to me that David said:
“Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from Your presence? If I ascend up into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.”
It doesn’t matter where you go or who you’re with; you can’t get away from the presence of God in your life. He knows the secrets you know and the secrets you don’t. So, we may as well go ahead and do as David says to do:
“Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts before Him, for God is our refuge” (Psalm 62:8).
God wants to know all the secrets of your heart so that He can reveal His secrets to you.
I believe if the Body of Christ could ever get healed from offenses, sicknesses, and diseases, and move on to forgive others, then we could help other people get healed. Then God, in turn, would heal us.
The Bible says that “the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the earth to see whose hearts are upright before Him.” He is waiting to reveal His secrets to all of us, so that we can know Him in all of His fullness.
I remember reading in Numbers 12 when Aaron and Miriam rebelled against Moses. All of a sudden, God appeared:
“Then the Lord came down in a pillar of cloud; He stood at the entrance to the tent and summoned Aaron and Miriam. When the two of stepped forward, He said, ‘Listen to My words; when there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord, reveal myself to them in visions, I speak to them in dreams. But this is not true of My servant Moses; he is faithful in all My house. With him I speak face to face, clearly and not in riddles; he sees the form of the Lord.'”
The scripture goes on to reveal how God punished them for disrespecting Moses in front of all the people.
God was very specific about how He communicated with Moses, His servant, “face to face.” Wouldn’t you just love to be in on some of those conversations that are not recorded in the Scriptures? Can you imagine some of the secrets that God must have shared during His face-to-face time with Moses?
God will reveal the secret things to you about your life.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to “only” see dreams and visions. I want a relationship with God where, as the song says, “He walks with me, and He talks with me; and He tells me I am His own.”
I believe the Lord wants to reveal the deep and hidden treasure inside of every seeker. But, you must prove that you are a worthy seeker first. I believe the the words of the Scriptures: “You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.”
The Lord will be found by “those that diligently seek Him.”
He is not found by a casual acquaintance. He is not found for someone who only occasionally seeks Him. Instead, people find Him when they have a personal relationship with Him day in and day out; in season and out of season.
You are the person who will find God–IF your heart is to go after all the things of God.
Deuteronomy 29:29 declares:
“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.”
I believe that you are getting ready to experience a deep revealing.
The Lord wants you to know today that He is changing and shifting things on your behalf. He reminds us of this in Psalm 91, when He says:
“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91:1).
Do you want to know the secret to abiding? Stay in the secret place! That is where there are no hidden secrets, and the Holy Spirit will come and reveal Jesus to you in such a strong and powerful way.
What does the future hold for you and your family? What will happen tomorrow or the next day?
God knows all these secrets, and He wants to tell you. I love that His Word, the Bible, always has the answer–and the Lord will reveal each answer and secret to you as you commune with Him.
As it says in Amos 3:7: “Surely the Lord God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.”
The Lord will tell you His secrets; and all the secrets you tell Him are safe with Him! Hallelujah!
